Nine
million – and Brad – love DIY
Daylight hours are getting
longer and the weather is improving – it’s the time
many of us are looking to embark on DIY projects. Even Brad Pitt
loves house renovation and has just announced his plan to take a
year’s sabbatical from acting to embark on an informal apprenticeship
with the famous architect Frank Gehry.
The majority of us have less ambitious plans, but are keen to improve
our homes nevertheless. In fact, nine million households are planning
to carry out DIY within the next two months, according to research
by The MarketPlace at Bradford & Bingley. Almost half of those
questioned are planning to improve their property rather than move.
Options to fund these improvements include existing savings or income,
a personal loan or remortgaging. It depends on how much the improvements
are going to cost as to which option suits you best, but check our
credit card, personal loans and mortgage best buys – and speak
to professionals for advice before acting.
