According to Rightmove house prices are up 0.4% in January and are now 4.1% higher than this time last year, with the average house now costing £222,261.

 

But which areas of the country have fared best as far as asking prices are concerned? Well according to Rightmove the regional winners and losers over the past month are:

The WINNERS ** North West +4.8% * South West +4.0% * London +2.3% * North +1.3% * South East +0.4%

and the LOSERS ** East Anglia -8.4% * West Midlands -5.4% * Yorkshire/Humberside -1.8% * Wales -0.6% * East Midlands -0.3%
